#GivingTuesday was created in 2012 with a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. It always takes place the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. (November 28, 2023 this year.) It is a global day of charitable giving unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world.
In an era of global crisis and disconnection, we need new rituals to connect us. As the world's largest giving GivingTuesday strives to build a world in which the catalytic power of generosity is at the heart of the society we build together, unlocking dignity, opportunity and equity around the globe. GivingTuesday believes that generosity leads to great civic participation and other pro-social behaviors.
GivingTuesday Mission: Build a more just and generous world.
Give Dollars

Give Goods
Organize a donation drive - they’re a great way to rally a group around a cause you all care about, whether that’s your weekend crew, your family, your neighbors, or your officemates. Collect toiletries, books, clothes, food - just about anything can be the focus of a donation drive. Be sure the check in with the nonprofit you’re collecting for before you begin. And don’t forget to take lots of photos along the way: Everyone loves to see a big pile of donated goods as a reward for their work and generosity.
Give Time
By volunteering, you can give something back, make a difference to the people around you, develop new skills, and learn more about issues affecting your community. The right volunteer opportunity can help you reduce stress, find friends, and even advance your career. Connect with nonprofits in your neighborhood or check out VolunteerMatch, Points of Light or Idealist. Get some ideas from DoSomething.org and don't forget that you can make some of the most meaningful change within your own local community.
Give Talent
Many nonprofits are understaffed or operating on a small budget and can’t afford the marketing, HR, technology, or planning resources that their missions deserve. Consider giving your skills to help a nonprofit - get connected with Taproot+
Give Kindness
A seemingly small act of kindness has the power to inspire generosity that can permeate society and catalyze change. Buy someone’s lunch, text someone to tell them you’re grateful to know them, or compliment a stranger. It matters more than we can ever know. Get more ideas from our friends at Kindness.org or Pay It Forward Day. Teachers: make kindness the norm at your school with our GivingTuesdayKids program.
